Deep Reset: an acupuncture and restorative yoga workshop

Join Dr. Sedgwick and Robin Ivy Payton for a 2 hour deeply restorative workshop where we will use acupuncture and restorative yoga to help you dial down your sympathetic tone and increase your body’s intrinsic healing ability.  So much of our lives are spent pushing through challenges and while this can be a good thing in the moment, we also need to spend time resting, repairing and restoring.   During this deeply nourishing two hours, Dr. Sedgwick will guide you through specific acupuncture points that will help address anxiety, stress, muscular soreness, insomnia, and fatigue.  We will use wearable acupuncture needles to help move qi more smoothly in our bodies.  Robin Ivy Payton will then guide you through a deeply nourishing restorative practice while you wear your needles.  It is not painful or scary!  These needles are very small and you will likely not notice them during the yoga practice.

The combination of the acupuncture, restorative postures and then gentle movement with transitions between postures will leave you feeling refreshed, recharged and peaceful - ready to face your world with a steady, strong and peaceful mind and body.

Nervous System and Restorative Yoga Teacher Training, ONLINE

  • Moved to ONLINE format (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Join us for Yoga Medicine’s Internal Medicine Yoga Teacher Training on the Nervous System and Restorative Yoga. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have moved this training to an online format. This yoga teacher training will be co-taught by Amy Sedgwick, MD, FACEP, E-RYT, Tiffany Cruikshank, L.AC, MAOM, and Eding Mvilongo, MD, MScE, FRCPC. Amy, Tiffany and Eding will be presenting the western anatomy & physiology of the nervous system and restorative yoga postures and practice. Together our expert teachers will guide you through this transformative training using asana practices, daytime lectures and case studies to create an in-depth, hands-on learning experience.

This Nervous System and Restorative Yoga Teacher Training begins by looking at these crucial systems and their relevance to yoga. These systems form a large part of what we know to be the therapeutic effects of our practice and have the potential to make the entire practice more helpful to you and your clients. We will look at how the physiology of these systems is affected by yoga and new research around this area as well as explore how to shape the practice specifically to address these areas.

Extending your Healthspan Series

Extending your Healthspan Series

With the recent uptick of longevity research in the medical community and lay press, there are many definitions of the term, healthspan. One way of thinking about this term is thinking about how we can adopt practices and habits that promote energy, creativity, resiliency and joy for a longer period of our lives.  How do we achieve these necessary states of being to ensure not just a long life but rather a ‘well-life’?  While there is a lot of literature out there describing medications and diets to help us on this pursuit, there is also plenty of research supporting contemplative practices that support our epigenome - our milieu - where our bodies realize processes can be optimized in the pursuit of extending our healthspan.

Join me for the first in a series of workshops where we explore this concept of healthspan and practices that support it.  The first workshop will be centered around yin-style movement, myofascial release, breath work, and meditation.  In our time together, we will combine these elements to set the stage in our bodies to maximize optimal healing, rejuvenation and vitality.

Each workshop is appropriate for all levels, 2.5 hrs, $45 per person.  Spaces are limited to be sure to sign up if you are interested.  Yoga teachers can earn CEUs through Yoga Alliance by attending.  Register at: https://www.greenerposturesyoga.com/yoga-workshops/extend-your-healthspan-amy-sedgewick-feb-2020
